23 December 2013 - Well what a fantastic year I've had with Oliver and Freddie.  Oliver has qualified for Channel Islands Dog of the Year and had a Reserve Best in Show together with numerous other Group placings and BoB's.  He has made me very proud but always giving me 110% he really is a true showman!!  Freddie has had a fantastic year in the Channel Islands he won every puppy group entered in has had 1 x Best Puppy in Show, 2 x Reserve Best Puppy in Show and 2 x 4th Best Puppy in Show.  He has qualified numerous times for Channel Islands Puppy of the Year and Crufts and he has also qualified for the Cocker Club Puppy and Veteran Challenge in January.  I can't thank Moray Armstrong, Debbie and Ken Grice enough for this wonderful little chap and I hope we have as much fun in 2014 as we have had this year!!!  We would also like to wish all our friends new and old a wonderful Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!!  We look forward ot catching up with some of you at Channel Islands Dog and Puppy of the Year in February and then others of you at Crufts in March

15 December 2013 - Ladies Kennel Association Championship Show - Cocker Judge Mrs Denise Fox "Castanea" - Freddie was a right fidget and didn't place in his Junior Class so back to ringcraft with him in the New Year!!  English Springer Spaniel Judge was Mrs A Pidcock - Oliver was unplaced in a very large limit class but had a 4th in Open Dog.  He never puts a foot wrong and what a shame he missed out on qualifying for Crufts by 1 place.  Never mind there's always 2015 :-)

Critique from Ms K Sillince "Tomlow" - E.S.S.-OPEN-:7(1) 1st-: De Carteret-: LYNTONRIDGE LOYALTY CARD AT DERRINDEE-: Liver male nearly six. Overall good conformation, excellent stifles, nice bone and feet. Today carrying too much weight over his shoulders which spoilt his outline. Happy sound mover.

10 August 2013 - Bournemouth Championship Dog Show - Cocker Spaniels - Judge Mr Paul Read "Jardinisle" - Freddie "Bitcon Spy for Derrindee" 2nd Puppy Dog.  Really pleased with Freddie today and even though we didn't win the class the judge was very complementary about Freddie saying what a lovely head he has and he was unlucky to meet the winner of the class.  English Springer Spaniels - Judge Mrs A Moss "Ewtor" - Oliver "Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee" - 4th Open Dog.  We had a lovely day today, caught up with lots of friends and had time to chat which was really nice.  Received lots of lovely comments on both boys and I caught up with Moray Armstrong and he was really pleased with how Freddie and I hvave been doing, he was also pleased with Freddie's presentation all I need to do is take more out of Freddie's front legs.  To me getting the big thumbs up from the Breeder and piers in your breed is more important than a first place card :-)

Critique from Mr Paul Read "Jardinisle" as published in Our Dogs - PD (3) - 2 De Carteret Bitcon Spy for Derrindee.  Good headed Blue with dark eye.  Short well proportioned body on well boned legs and nice feet, moved well.

3 August 2013 - The Kennel Club of Jersey - Summer Championship Show - Judge Dr Andreas Schemel - Freddie "Bitcon Spy for Derrindee", 1st Cocker Spaniel Puppy, Best of Breed, Gundog Puppy Group 1 (Crufts and Channel Islands Puppy of the Year qualification), Best AV Gundog Junior and Best AV Gundog Novice.  Freddie then went on to win Reserve Best Puppy in Show!!!!.  Not to be outdone by his young kennel mate Oliver "Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee", 1st Open English Springer Spaniel, Best of Breed and Gundog Group 3.  What a lovely day I had with both of my boys and what makes this even more special is that Freddie has been unbeaten in his puppy career in Guernsey and Jersey!!  5 shows attended and 5 Gundog Puppy Group 1's!!!  Many thanks to Bob Michel for taking this picture and emailing it to me.  Thanks Bob :-)

28 July 2013 - The Guernsey Kennel Club - Summer Match - Judge Ms Rachel Le Masurier - Freddie "Bitcon Spy for Derrindee" won his puppy class and was later declared Best Puppy in Match. This was Freddie's last Match in Puppy, so I was very pleased that he has gone out in style :-)

Freddie Best in Summer Match

14 July 2013 - The Cocker Spaniel Club Championship Show - Judge Mr David Todd "Chataway" - Freddie "Bitcon Spy for Derrindee" - 1st AOC Puppy Dog and VHC Any Colour Puppy Dog.  Freddie behaved himself in the first class by standing still but in his second class which was later in the day he was a right fidget and lost places because of it.  I had so many lovely comments about Freddie and Debbie and Ken were both really pleased with how he is maturing.  Just need to do a bit of work on his back legs and strip a bit more out of his coat but apart from that he looked fine.  It was really nice to catch up with so many friends although I did miss out a few with not feeling 100%.  I als put both Freddie and Oliver in the Evesham & District Open Show.  I showed Freddie and he had a 2nd in a good class but it was so hot and the Springer ring was in the full sun that I didn't show Oliver in the end.  Photo below taken by Sheila Ewan :-)

Critique from Mr David Todd "Chataway" - 1 Bitcon Spy for Derrindee, beautiful head, neck & shoulders, good straight front. He has nice body proportions & nice wide hindquarters, moved soundly & freely.

5 June 2013 - The Kennel Club of Jersey 125th Anniversary Championship Show - Judge Mr Frank Kane - Oliver "Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee", 1st English Springer Spaniel Open Dog, BOB and short listed in a very strong Group.  Freddie "Bitcon Spy for Derrindee" - 1st Cocker Spaniel Puppy, Best Cocker Spaniel Puppy, Best of Breed, Gundog Puppy Group 1 (Crufts qualification 2014 and Channel Islands Puppy of the Year), Gundog Group 2 (12 dogs in the Group) and Reserve Jersey Challenge Certificate.  Mr Kane commented on what a lovely Cocker puppy Freddie is and said that I should have a lot of fun with him.  This made my day and I can't wait to see his critique and the photo's that Louise Tope took.  Under Mrs Liz Cartledge Freddie was awarded 4th Best Puppy in Show.  What a fab day and one that I will not forget for a longtime to do so well under such a well respected judge and all this with Freddie not quite 10 months yet!!!  I think my face says it all "As pleased as punch with Frank Kane".

Critiques from Mr Frank Kane as published in Our Dogs 04 September 2013

Freddie's - Cocker and one of my stars of the show in the 10 months b/r puppy Bitcon Spy for Derrindee; outstanding quality and type, cobby, compact & free of exaggeration. Excellent movement, should make a name for himself. Gundog Group 2 - Cocker, very close up, just looked h...is age in the Group but not denying type quality and star potential

Oliver's - English Springer Spaniel - Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee, 6 years, good mover, type masculine head, good bone and well ribbed. I would prefer a little more leg length.  Pushed by a bitch of superior proportions but who failed to him in head.  I could of gone either way with them.

19 May 2013 - The Guernsey Kennel Club Spring Open Show - Judge Mr B M Webb (Mauraine) - Oliver "Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee" - 1st English Springer Spaniel Open Dog, Best of Breed and 2nd AV Gundog Open Dog.  Freddie "Bitcon Spy for Derrindee" - 1st Cocker Spaniel Puppy, Best Cocker Spaniel Puppy, Best of Breed, Puppy Group 1 (Crufts qualification 2014 and Channel Islands Puppy of the Year), 1st AV Gundog Puppy, 1st AV Gundog Novice, 1st BC Watson.  Then Freddie won the BC Watson and to my sheer delight he was Best Puppy in Show :-) :-) Very proud of both of my boys.  Photos below taken off Freddie and Oliver by Debbie Ingrouille.

Critiques from Mr Webb and WOW what a critique for Freddie :-) and Oliver :-)  Thank You Mr Webb .....

From a very competitive puppy line up it gave me great pleasure to award the final accolade BPIS to Miss D De Carteret's 9 month old Cocker Spaniel Bitcon Spy for Derrindee. Even at this early age he immediately gives the impression of being from the top draw. He showed great resilience throughout the whole day and never stopped showing for a moment. He maintained his concentration at all times, which speaks volumes for his future. His head is classical, balance, well proportioned and very clean. His profile is aesthetically pleasing to the eye showing no exaggerations and covered with conformation that is lean and firm. His front and forehand just cannot be faltered when viewed from any angle and is certainly a most outstanding feature. His movement is very sound and certainly confirmed his construction. If he gets a fair crack of the whip the world is his oyster.

English Springer Spaniel. Open Dog Miss D De Carteret Lyntonridge Loyalty Card At Derrindee at six and a half years of age this exhibit is a great example of the breed and beautifully constructed throughout, presented in tip top condition, his body shows harmonious proportions with the most pleasing symmetry standing on a typical length of leg and showing obvious daylight being covered by lean conformation, he uses his front and rear angles when gaiting showing no interference BOB.

27 April 2013 - It's been far too long before any shows for us.  The next thing we have to look forward to is a Match on the 12 May and then the Guernsey Kennel Club's Spring Open Show on the 19 May.  Then hopefully by then we will have booked some shows to do in the UK fingers crossed!!  I can't wait for my friends in the UK to meet Freddie :-)  I'm sure they will fall in love with him as much as I have :-)

24 March 2013 - Kennel Club of Jersey Winter Championship Show - Judge Mr Alan Small "Bethane Terriers" - Freddie "Bitcon Spy for Derrindee" - 1st Cocker Spaniel Puppy, Best Cocker Spaniel Puppy, Gundog Puppy Group 1 (Crufts and Channel Islands Puppy of the Year qualification), 1st AV Gundog Minor Puppy, 1st AV Gundog Puppy and 1st AV Gundog Novice.  Then under Best in Show Judge Mr David Cavill - Freddie was then 4th Best Puppy in Show and Reserve Best Novice in Show and all this at just 7 months old !!!  Oliver "Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee" - 1st English Springer Spaniel Open Dog, Best of Breed and Gundog Group 3.  What a lovely day with both boys doing so well today.  Mr Small absolutely loved Freddie too bits and his comment about Oliver "owning the ring" was lovely to hear too.  He was also a very gentle judge with the dogs and made everybody feel at ease.  It was also a fab day for our very good friends Lynn Ozanne and Pam Smith whose Cocker Spaniel Riva "Magic Miss Moneypenny of Islanza" won the Gundog Group, the Jersey CC and has also qualified for Crufts and Channel Islands Dog of the Year 2014!!!  Very happy boat trip back!!

Critique from Mr Small

Cocker Spaniel - Best Puppy.  De Carteret’s, Bitcon Spy for Derrindee, crackin blue roan youngster, so much to like about him, lovely head & expression with dark eye, correct mouth, well set ears, good front with well padded feet, good ribbed body short with strong quarters, correct set on, in all a very nice puppy. Let him self down in the challenge for BOB, but pleased to say that he got his act together in Gundog Puppy group which he won with some thing to spare. Puppy Group 1.

Spaniel (English Springer) BOB.  De Carteret’s, Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee, up to size, lovely head & expression with nice strength of muzzle, good eye, correct mouth, well set ears nicely feathered, straight front with good shoulders, well ribbed up with strong quarters, in good double coat. Well handled & presented to Gundog Group 3.

19 March 2013 - A very sad day for me today as it's a year today that I had to say goodbye to Sebbie ... my first dog and one that I'd waited for whole childhood for.  Still very sad thinking of him today, but can take comfort that he is happy and not suffering.

09 March 2013 - Crufts - Judge Mrs Marion Stowe - Oliver "Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee" attended this prestigous Dog Show and showed very well, had lots of lovely comments but unfortunately for us in a class of 15 we were unplaced.  Photo's below taken at the Show by Janey May (thank you Janey).  We had quite an eventful trip we were due back on the Monday but due to horrendous weather in Guernsey gale force winds and snow and lots of snow we didn't make it back to Guernsey until 11.20pm Tuesday evening after sailing from Portsmouth at 11.30am via Jersey.  Oliver and his travelling companions Riva & Lexi owned by Pam Smith travelled really well and when we went down to the car deck to give them a bit of exercise they were all fast asleep.  We did have a great trip away but soo tiring.  Now we need to get qualified to do it all again in 2014 :-)

Critique from Mrs Nixon

English Springer Spaniel Open (2,1) - 1 De Carteret's, Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee.  Very well constructed with such a beautiful head and kind expression, nice ear set.  Good length of neck into well placed shoulders.  Sound front with good bone.  Well developed ribs.  Shapely hindquarters.  Lovely coat and condition.  Moved out really well.  Gundog G1 and RBIS.

Cocker Spaniel Puppy (1) - 1 De Carteret's, Bitcon Spy for Derrindee.  Good overall shape to this 6 months old puppy.  Very attractive head with soft expression.  Nice neck to good shoulders.  Lovely front.  Firm topline.  Good legs and feet.  Moved very well for one so young.  BPIG and RBPIS.

16 February 2013 - Channel Islands Dog of the Year - Judge Mr J J H Van Den Berg.  To compete in Channel Islands Dog of the Year you must win either the Puppy or Adult Group or Best Veteran or Best Brace in Show.  Oliver was competing today and really showed well .. We were lucky to be put through as a finalist from the Gundog Group, there was 6 other dogs and only 2 get put through so that was a great achievement.  Oliver didn't go any further but we had a lovely time ...

10 February 2013 - Guernsey Kennel Club Match - Judge Mrs Caroline Le Poidevin - Freddie "Bitcon Spy For Derrindee" won his class and was later declared Reserve Best Puppy in Match :-) :-)  I was really pleased with how Freddie did today, he was a little fidgety in the challenge as we were against another Cocker puppy who he hadn't met before, but apart from that he was a little star.  Photo's below of the little fidget :-)
